Fujimi Orchestra is a 60 minute OAV based around the town orchestra of Fujimi and is focused on the characters Morimura Yuuki, the Concert Master, and Tonoin Kei who joins the Block B. orchestra as their new conductor.

You quickly learn that Kei is romantically/sexually interested in Yuuki and a few flashing images show that something has already happened between them before the movie had started. None of which Yuuki is very pleased about. It is also revealed quickly that Yuuki's long standing crush, Kawashima, has developed feelings for Kei. Due to all of this Yuuki's ability to play as first chair violin drops drastically in a short period of time causing further confrontations with Kei. While all of this seems to come very quickly the plot itself moves very slowly and from beginning to end it doesn't move forward at all.

The story itself is told almost backwards in flashbacks that interchange without signal with one another leaving the viewer in a state of slight confusion throughout the entire show. This makes it seem as if something is at least going on in the movie but it comes out jumbled and hard to piece together.

The only sex scene is also shown in a flashback and even though Kei professes his love several times through the act it is in no way consensual. While it could be said that Yuuki doesn't put up that much of a fight Kei is much larger then he is and by that time in the show, or at least in how we perceive his mental state to be at the time, he seems to have given up on not only his music but also his crush on Kawashima.

In the end there is no happy relationship between the two. In fact one would be hard pressed to call it a relationship at all. Yuuki is still angry, "not gay," and troubled at the end and Kei is still pushing his feelings on Yuuki without hesitation.

The animation itself has a lot of odd still shots, most likely for dramatic effect, and shots of parts of the city that neither character are at. The character design is pretty solid and movement fluid enough to be easy to watch. There was nothing wrong with the color choices unless the viewer has a problem with the use of orange and blue tones that older anime seems fond of in dramatic or contemplative situations. If you are looking for a fansub however it can be extraordinarily difficult to find a version you can watch without getting a headache.

As a general good point the voice acting was done well and none of the characters had the "obnoxious female" voice or the "weepy uke" tone which could grate on any yaoi fan's nerves.

The most disappointing thing about this anime was that while it does have an intriguing plot it was pulled off horribly. Also I am slightly biased on this issue considering I had found the manga before the OAV which is pulled off worlds better, leading me to having high hopes of the movie, and was probably the only thing that let me understand what was happening throughout viewing Fujimi Orchestra.
