Papa to Kiss in the Dark is based on the first cd of a BL drama of the same title. We are introduced to the world of the doting father, Munakata Kyosuke and his adorable, 15 year old son Mira. This is a happy, peaceful domestic situation just unlike any other, only that they are also lovers.
The 2 part OVA starts off with Mira waking up his father. It's his first day at his new school and wanted to make a good impression. Of course, Kyosuke delays them with some early morning exercise.
At school, Mira is late, lost and in the middle of a panic attack. All things are resolved however when he meets Utsunomiya Takayuki, school council president. They chat for a while, a start of a beautiful friendship. He guides Mira to his destination, smiles and goes.
Mira, relieved that he got to class without getting caught , is surprised to see his long time best friend Hino Kazuki. All heads turn as Mira's father, reknowned actor Munakata Kyosuke, arrives.
The story then proceeds to its major plot, mainly Mira's relationship with Kyosuke and his paternity. The first OVA end with Mira learning about a secret past.
On the second OVA, we meet Utsunomiya Mizuki, mother of school council president Takayuki and also a famous actress. There are rumors of her and Kyosuke getting married that makes Mira panic.
"I want you to be my son," says Mizuki, which confuses Mira all the more. He runs off, a jumble of mixed emotions. He awoke to find Kyosuke beside him and he learns of the truth about himself, about Kyosuke and about Mizuki. Which all culminates in a sweet kiss and rather happy ending.
It doesn't have a very tragic plot, which makes watching it all the more easy. It's a series that you'd enjoy watching again and again since it combines comedy, drama and sex all into one cool package. It somehow reminds me of Yuki and Shuuichi of Gravitation. The art is clean and well drawn and the music is unobtrusive. The OVA features the talents of the ever suave Miki Shinichiro as Kyosuke, Midorikawa Hikaru as Mira, Chiba Sususmu as Hino Kazuki and Koyasu Takehito as Utsunomiya Takayuki.
The story might seem a bit short so if you're out for more of them, try checking out the drama CD. There are 5 CDs in all. What makes the story more interesting is the interaction between the secondary characters, so watch out for it!
All in all, if you're looking for a sexy romp without all the heavy angst, I suggest this
title. It's fun, light and most especially, hot. Look out when Kyosuke is in seduction
mode. Those eyes will definitely make anyone burn.
