Wasn't at first sure if I really wanted to go for this one or not. I'd seen the anime, of course, and thought it might be a tad silly, if not downright wasteful, to buy the manga to something I'd already seen. Read a few reviews of it elsewhere, though, and considering how much I enjoyed the anime, I came to the decision that nothing in yaoi-dom is truly wasteful, per se. To make a long story short, I'm hella glad I caved. The manga has so much more warmth and humour than the anime -- it actually made me chuckle in several places (in the good way). The uke when he's animated is, yes, kind of whiny and more than a bit immature. It's not that he's so much more together in the manga as that he's so much more. He's got more of a personality. The anime was a bit of hot and steamy fun, no doubt, but it was rather silly. The manga, while not really any more serious, is nevertheless more real (in that seriously un-real yaoi way, if you catch my drift). To put it even more vaguely, but it really does sum up whatever it is I'm trying to get across here, there's alot more there there. It doesn't hurt, either, that there's a ton and a half of sex. Can't wait to get my hands on the second volume.
